2020 idlewild "flora & fauna" red

Idlewild is a Piedmontese inspired wine project in the hills of northern California, founded by Sam Bilbro in 2010. Sam is the youngest son of a winemaking family in the area and grew up around the vines. After spending many years working in restaurants, Sam developed a passion for the wines of northwestern Italy, and transformed that passion into wine. The Flora & Fauna Red is made of mostly Barbera and Dolcetto with a touch of Nebbiolo. The fruit comes from Fox Hill Vineyard and Lost Hills Ranch. Fox Hill lends depth while Lost Hills balances with vibrancy and bright aromatics. In the end, Mendocino is what is most on display with high and low tones and a very pleasant rusticity.
